Many thanks for the ‘David Allen's History of a Family Firm 1857-1957’ entry, in particular the ‘The Golden Wedding, 12th September 1901’ photo. My entire family is in this photo. My grandmother was Daphne Allen, the daughter of Maurice Tyrone Workman Allen, my great grandfather and from whom I get Maurice, my middle name. He is shown as a 16-year-old-boy bottom-left in the photo. The man behind him, with his hand on his shoulder, is Robert Allen, my great-great grandfather. Sitting second in on his left, with my great uncle William Edward David Allen on his lap (a seven-month-old baby at the time) is my great-great-great grandfather David Allen, the founder of David Allen & Sons, the bill-printing and poster business which in 1901 was at the height of its success with 2000 employees and a 12-acre site in Harrow, London, Manchester and Belfast.
