Many thanks for all the work behind this site. It brings back lots of memories. I would be grateful if you could amend the 1960 entry for my father Henry Jordan who appears as Harold at 29 Wynchurch Road. He appears correctly in the 1960 Appendix under the BEM award.

Thank you for your site, I have used the street directories a lot for research. I came across some wonderful photographs of Whiterock, Killinchy in the Gillespie Agnew collection - two of women on the shore / jetty and another of women probably picking berries from the hedge.

Also, can you correct the spelling on the 1960 street directory for 23 Ballysillan Crescent. My dad was John Plummer - not John Plumber ! 🙂 Thanks

That's how they actually spelled it in the directory, if you find any other incorrect entries for your great grandfather just let me know 🙂

My grandfather (maternal) is listed here as Gnr J. Mateer (John) of 8 Gypsy Street Belfast, in 21st Battery of 8th Belfast HAA Regiment. He passed away in 1988, having never spoken a word to any of us about the War. We would be very grateful to hear from anybody who knew him. Thank you

I would like to correct a spelling error. Surname should be spelt Dickinson not Dickenson. This was my Great grandfather.

Great site...and so useful. I was surprised that there was no Belmont Road (Belfast) in the 1870s, 1880s or 1890s...it was clearly in existence!

I thank you for providing analysing the details of people and places from the Belfast Street directory. It is an excellent service to which I have just made a £20 donation. I have used the site to track Hughes families in Servia Street up to 1960 but I can't get any further. Can a look-up be carried out for the Hughes families in Servia Street after 1960, please? The names I have are James Hughes (no 10), blacksmith, Thomas Hughes (59/59A) horse dealer, and Joseph Hughes (59A) . I believe the horse dealers had stables nearby. I only need details of Hughes families in the street after 1960. Michael Hughes

I just hope you can help me on my research about the Bank Buildings, your site gives this information, under 1819 Miscellaneous Notes
1787 - Bank formed; partners, John Ewing, John Holmes, John Brown, and John Hamilton. Issued Notes payable in gold.
1787 - Second Bank; partners, Waddell Cunningham, C. Ranken, W. Brown, and John Campbell. Issued Notes payable in gold. Who would have built the Bank , Reading this does it mean The 4 John’s owed the bank before Cunningham and his partners, does the second Bank mean the same building but new owners, meaning Cunning , I would appreciate it if you could help me understand as his would help my research.
